Our Mission
Our goal today remains much the same as it was 45 years ago – make fast, affordable repairs while providing each customer with sufficient information to rationalize the cost saving advantages of a new piece of equipment versus the repair of an old one.
While we still service all brands of heating and cooling equipment, we are geared towards selling only the very best high quality new and replacement system brand names available. We stand behind everything we sell and have learned over the years that quality doesn’t cost, it pays!
Our History
Snell Plumbing & Heating originated in 1974 in Virden, Illinois as a partnership between brothers Ed and Maury Snell. Under the watchful eye of the late Auburn Roemer, who was for many years one of the area’s most respected general contractors, the Snells founded the business on service and sold very little new equipment during those early days. The business was incorporated under the name Snell Enterprises in July of 1984.
Over the years, Ed’s ability to repair refrigeration equipment that no one else would look at led to the formation of a loyal customer base, all of whom relied on Ed’s frank assessment of mechanical problems. If Ed said it wasn’t worth fixing there was seldom a question asked, unless it was “How soon can you get me a new one?”
As the business has grown over the years, Snell Plumbing & Heating moved several times to progressively larger facilities in order to accommodate a growing inventory of equipment and materials. The present facility was purchased in 1988 from Paul Thomas who had operated a farm and tire store at the location since the late sixties.
In the spring of 1997, a satellite branch was opened in Litchfield, Illinois on North Old Route 66. The Litchfield facility currently deals primarily with the HVAC field while attempting to establish a customer base and hopefully cultivate the plumbing market in that area in the future.
Throughout the years, the company has established and maintained an excellent reputation for customer service through the cooperation of each and every one of its 30+ employees. Today, the company is still owned and run by the Snell family. Snell Plumbing & Heating continually strives to provide the best in customer service coupled with some of the most knowledgeable plumbers as well as HVAC and service technicians in central Illinois.
